Baby Swim Class

Katya and I took Mariya to “Nakadate Sports Center” in Kofu. The center  has an 86-year old history.

Katya went to check the swimming pool last week for Mariya’s swimming lessons.

Katya and Mariya went into the pool, while I watched them from the second floor.

The water in the pool is GREEN because it is natural hot water from 300-m depth. The green color is that of chlorophyll.

Actually, I did not see them well and got bored after 10 minutes. Katya said Mariya enjoyed the class. An instructor told me the same. Probably, Katya and Mariya will join the class from June.

iPhone returns

In the morning, Katya sent me a mail, telling that the iPhone is already delivered to me.

After coming back home, I opened the box.

There was a note inside the box; my iPhone was renewed. It cost only 4,400 yen because I was enrolled in the AppleCare Protection Plan. I was not very glad to get a new one because I like using machines for a long time, as I tried to do for my Nikon camera.

After a meal, Mariya sits on her own chair. I am glad she doesn’t mind keeping herself on it.

Mets Cola: Cola for Specified Health Uses

Katya and I opened up a  bottle of “Kirin Mets Cola“. Katya often buys this cola for me.

KIRIN Mets Cola

This cola is approved by the government as a “Food for Specified Health Uses (FOSHU)”.

FOSHU refers to foods containing ingredient with functions for health and officially approved to claim its physiological effects on the human body (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare).

This cola contains some dexitrins to control the the absorption of fat. Pepsi followed to sell “Pepsi Special“.

For cola, I like Coke the best, but drinking those “healthy colas” makes me feel as if I were a healthy person.

Summer has come

I had two classes today. During the lectures, I used the air conditioners to cool down for the first time in this year.

Mariya wore a short‐sleeved shirt.

ARROWS smartphone

In the morning, I called to “au shop Kofu Arakawa”. They said there was  no iPhone to give to me, but there was one Android. In the afternoon, I went to the shop to borrow it.

The lady in the shop kindly explained to me how to use the smartphone. It says “ARROWS” on the face of it.

At the first touch, this machine seemed boring to me, but I need to call, anyway.

Then I went to see an ophthalmologist for my contact lenses. Unfortunately, my type was not equipped, so I will go get them on Saturday.

Sunday shopping

In the afternoon, Katya, Mariya and I went out for shopping leaving Maya-san home.

We dropped at a public parking lot to see roses around the fences.

Then we went to an au shop, a telephone company to talk about my broken iPhone; there is no AppleStore in Kofu. I had called to Apple, and the operator told me that with the number he gave me, I was able to borrow an iPhone at any au shop.

The man at the au shop told me that he knew nothing about this system and that he could not do anything for me.

Nothing can I do, either. I have to call to Apple tomorrow, then.

Then we went to Nishimatsu Ya, a baby shop.

We bought a swimsuit for Mariya.

Some foods and a thermometer for her, too.

We went to “Fish Land Ishihara“, a pet shop, and asked about algae growing in our fresh-water aquarium.

Eventually, we bought four fish. See whether they work for us.

We headed for “Yumura Hotel” for a buffet dinner.

They serve healthy dishes. We brought a piece of ham for Maya-san waiting for us alone.

We arrived home. Maya-san forgave us after having the souvenir.

Work on Saturday

In the morning, there were presentations by nine Ph.D students. They did well.  All the teachers and students showed themselves including me.

In the afternoon, I went to see an otorhinolaryngologist to have my nose checked. On the way back, I filled up the tank of mini, too.

After coming back to my office, I was discussing with a student of mine, who is in the second grade of a master course. He is having hard times finding employment next spring after his graduation.

In Japan, students look for employment during their school days, and start working right after the graduation. If they cannot find a job before graduation, it could mean that they would not find a good job any more. Too strict.

I was discussing with him how to go through the first interview coming on Monday. He told me that there will be three interviews in all.

Experiments continued

From the early morning, I have been carrying out experiments with a student of mine and a researcher from Panasonic. By our side, a professor from Keio University was doing his with my colleague.

When I had time, I was writing a paper, too. Students came to me once in a while to ask me how to submit their abstracts and register themselves with the conference (actually, the registration procedure was very complicated).

I got so tired after these three day.

When I came home, Katya started talking with her parents on Skype. Mariya was on a new  foam-plastic matress we bought at Babies “R” Us in Odaiba.

Katya bought an iPhone with me in December. She knows how to use it well.

Working with Shimadzu and Panasonic

From yesterday, I have been working with Shimadzu and Panasonic researchers in my lab. Pretty tiring because  I have little time to rest.

Shimadzu researchers left this evening, but Panasonic researchers stay until tomorrow. Tomorrow, a professor from Keio University arrives to carry out another experiments.

I was pretty exhausted when I arrived home. Katya made a lot of spaghetti, and I finished it all.
