Mariya’s birthday party
Mariya’s birthday was October 15, but today, Saturday, I invited my parents to have a birthday party with them . I saw my parents at Kofu station at 1 PM and took them to our apartment. I quickly went to a Chinese restaurant, Manpuku Roh, to take out dinner. The taste was OK. Then all of us went out for Takeda Shrine. A cameraman was waiting for us to take pictures of us in a small park nearby. After taking photos, I took my parents back to Kofu station. My mother will come to visit us for helping us with moving out from the apartment after my visit to … Continue reading

Tiring Sunday by cleaning up around the apartments
I normally wake up late on Sunday mornings, but today, before 7 AM as usual, because there was scheduled a clean-up around the apartments by the residents themselves; there are a lot of these occasions in Japan. The cleaning started at 8 AM. We cleaned the ditch and took off weeds. We made up piles of bags filled with weeds. I took a shower again. For lunch, we walked down Takeda Street. We arrived at a Nepali restaurant, “New Mahal“, where Katya took a ladies’ set and I a lunch buffet. Mariya was a good girl as usual. I wish that the buffet curries were more spicy. After coming … Continue reading

Seminar and meeting in Tokyo
I continued copying and pasting. At 2 AM, a mail arrived from a Mexican friend working for a French university; he invited me to the defense of his Chinese PhD student, and the date of defense was decided on September 18th. So I will visit France in September. I finished the report at 4 AM. I uploaded the file to a free storage site and sent the url to the governmental institute asking to download it to check. I came back home, took Maya-san for a morning walk, and left for Tokyo for a seminar of a graphic software I am using. I slept in the train. I got off … Continue reading

Stay in the office for a report
I had two classes to teach today. I like the classes and students seem to understand me. I then started preparing a report of my project in the academic year 2012 (meaning from April 2012 to March 2013). It was not too difficult because I just copy and paste and adjust lines and change fonts and copy and paste and adjust pictures, and so on. I came back to the apartment at 7 PM for dinner and Mariya’s bathing. Then I took a nap. I came back to my office and am copying and pasting and adjusting.

iPhone returns
In the morning, Katya sent me a mail, telling that the iPhone is already delivered to me. After coming back home, I opened the box. There was a note inside the box; my iPhone was renewed. It cost only 4,400 yen because I was enrolled in the AppleCare Protection Plan. I was not very glad to get a new one because I like using machines for a long time, as I tried to do for my Nikon camera. After a meal, Mariya sits on her own chair. I am glad she doesn’t mind keeping herself on it.
Summer has come
I had two classes today. During the lectures, I used the air conditioners to cool down for the first time in this year. Mariya wore a short‐sleeved shirt.
iPhone and bottles
I was busy today with two lectures. In the evening, I was running out for a meeting. I jumped and broke my iPhone 5 I bought with Katya last December. I did not know that the screen was so fragile. Other than the screen, it worked, but I need to replace it to a new one, anyway. I got shocked. After I came back home, we had deliveries. BODY SHOP bottles from the director of our institute, for whom we held a party for his awards. Wines I bought at “Tomi no Oka” on Sunday. I am looking forward to trying them.

Aquariums
Katya set up fresh water and sea-water aquariums. Fresh water aquarium looks calm now. Sea-water aquarium is still on the way, although Katya put some soft corrals in. No fish yet.
After holidays
Today’s Tuesday. School started. I have two classes on Tuesday, so I did not go back for lunch. When I was back home in the evening, Mariya was playing with Anpanman my parents gave her. He is made so as to right himself when knocked over, but Mariya does not play with him this way yet. These days, Mariya is interested in Maya-san, too.
May 6, 2013: Holiday in lieu
Yesterday, it was Sunday and Children’s Day; therefore, today is a holiday in lieu. While Katya did chores around the house in the morning, I took Mariya to Takeda Shrine. It is only a fifteen-minute walk from our apartment. We walked up Takeda Street. We passed across the bridge over the moat around the shrine. We went up the stone steps to pass the outer entrance. A pair of stone dogs guard the shrine at the entrance. We proceeded to the inner entrance. On the left was a well for purifying hands (you can drink water, too). We arrived at the inner gate to the front shrine. People were praying. … Continue reading
