Mariya’s mini gym
A birthday present for Mariya arrived one day later. It is a mini indoor gym. Katya constructed it while I was working. After I came home, Mariya and I played together. She climbed up and slid down very well.
Mariya’s birthday
Mariya is one year old today. Time flies! Katya dressed Mariya up with a dress my mother gave to Mariya and a head band from Natalia. Mariya does not like hats. It seems she was happy without the head band.
Passport application for Mariya
Katya had taken Mariya’s photos. I chose one of the files and clipped her face out for her passport. I made a JPG file out of it and took it to a photo shop around 4 PM. The shop owner received it and made two prints. I took them to the passport center with the documents I had prepared. They received the documents with no problem except they wanted to know Katya’s cell phone number. “We will call her later.” “I can help you. My wife’s Japanese is not perfect.” “It is OK. We will call her later.” Right after I left the counter, one of them called Katya, “Do … Continue reading

Tiring Sunday by cleaning up around the apartments
I normally wake up late on Sunday mornings, but today, before 7 AM as usual, because there was scheduled a clean-up around the apartments by the residents themselves; there are a lot of these occasions in Japan. The cleaning started at 8 AM. We cleaned the ditch and took off weeds. We made up piles of bags filled with weeds. I took a shower again. For lunch, we walked down Takeda Street. We arrived at a Nepali restaurant, “New Mahal“, where Katya took a ladies’ set and I a lunch buffet. Mariya was a good girl as usual. I wish that the buffet curries were more spicy. After coming … Continue reading

Mariya’s stuffy nose
In the late afternoon, Katya and I took Mariya to see an otorhinolaryngologist, because Mariya has a cold and has a stuffy nose. Mariya was treated at the hospital and her nose was cleared. The doctor told us how to clear the nose, and we bought a tube for it. In the afternoon, I cleaned Mariya’s nose. It seems that she is feeling better.

Mariya crawls
Mariya is getting good at crawling. Katya showed her on skype to her parents using iPhone. She came and bit the string attached to my camera. She likes strings and cords these days.

Resort Outlets Yatsugatake
All of us went to “Resort Outlet Yatsugatake“. It was cloudy today, and there were not so many people. Maya-san had some fun in the dog run. Then we had lunch at an Italian restaurant “Lo Scoiattolo“. Dishes were good as usual for the price. Mariya and Maya-san were waiting by us. I had a slight cold and my eye hurt because of a lens, so I stayed in the car with Maya-san while Katya was shopping with Mariya. It started raining. Katya drove us home. For dinner, I cooked Szechuan Sesame Hot Noodles. After dinner, I started cooking Chinese roast pork using a pressure cooker. The pork … Continue reading

Baby Swim Class
Katya and I took Mariya to “Nakadate Sports Center” in Kofu. The center has an 86-year old history. Katya went to check the swimming pool last week for Mariya’s swimming lessons. Katya and Mariya went into the pool, while I watched them from the second floor. The water in the pool is GREEN because it is natural hot water from 300-m depth. The green color is that of chlorophyll. Actually, I did not see them well and got bored after 10 minutes. Katya said Mariya enjoyed the class. An instructor told me the same. Probably, Katya and Mariya will join the class from June.

iPhone returns
In the morning, Katya sent me a mail, telling that the iPhone is already delivered to me. After coming back home, I opened the box. There was a note inside the box; my iPhone was renewed. It cost only 4,400 yen because I was enrolled in the AppleCare Protection Plan. I was not very glad to get a new one because I like using machines for a long time, as I tried to do for my Nikon camera. After a meal, Mariya sits on her own chair. I am glad she doesn’t mind keeping herself on it.
