School ends in March and starts in April in Japan. I am instructing one PhD and one master student who are graduating in March 2012. They are already looking for jobs after their graduation! The master student went to Kobe today for an interview.
It is a common situation in Japan. In order for the interviews, students take breaks. It is accepted in universities.
Although it is common, I do not think it is normal. Students should be able to concentrate on their studies during their school days.
If they cannot find a job, they usually have to wait for the next chance to come next year.
This system is too rigid. Katya was very surprised, too.
