Katya and I decided to spend New Year holidays together in 2006. Katya had traveled around the Hainan island the year before and especially liked Sanya. I had little idea about China, so I followed her idea.
It was a long journey for both of us. I flew from Tokyo to Shanghai, and to Sanya. Katya took a bus from Vladivostok to Harbin, took a train to Guanzhou, and flew to Sanya.
Sanya is a beach resort, called “Hawaii of China”. I think it is not such an exaggeration.
We met at the airport and moved to the Sanya Huayuan Hot Spring Seaview Resort. It was a hotel owned by a Chinese businessman. People spoke English well and were friendly and helpful.
We walked on the beach, had dinner outside, and fell asleep.
