Lazy Holiday on Hatsushima Island

Katya and I woke up late to have a continental breakfast at the lounge. Our table was by the window.

Then we went out for a walk to the beach. It was hot, but with a pleasant breeze.

We saw many boats and yachts.

We walked down to the rocky beach. Mt. Fuji was seen over the ocean.

We went back to the hotel, took a shower, and had a late lunch buffet.

Katya took a nap, while I was reading a magazine.  Eventually, I fell into sleep, too.

In the evening, we went up the roof of the hotel to take pictures.

On the lower right, lights from Porto are seen.  On the upper left appear Mt. Fuji and Atami.

We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant, Suiyo, in the hotel.

We got full again. We may be eating too much even being on the vacation.

We had our picture taken together at the entrance in front of the indoor fountain.

    Hi Muravej,

I came across your blog and thank you for the lovely pictures.
I wanted to visit Hatsushima Island soon.
Do you know if this Atami and Hatsushima Island affected by the nuclear power plant that had happened last year?
And if is save there?( I would not want to worry about getting cancer)

    Hope you can help.
    Thanks alot in advance!

Hello, Emme, thank you for visiting my blog.

Atami and Hatsushima were not polluted by the radiations, and it is safe to visit the places.

They are resorts, and you might enjoy them in summer rather than in winter. However, of course, it depends. My parents, for example, are planning to stay in Atami and the areas around for two weeks in February to avoid the cold climate in a mountainous town in Nagano.

If you tell me what you are willing to do, I will be more than happy to help you out with how you can enjoy Atami and Hatsushima.

    Hi Muvarej,

    Thanks for the info.
I actually planning to be there for a job for 1 year. (but nothing confirm yet)
Do you know if its swimmable there? I mean if there’s people swim there like at the beach?
And I believe mostly the residence sleep using tatami there(except hotel i guess).
Would it be inappropriate to request for bed or atleast western standard mattres?
    Getting to know the culture:D

If you have any experience in Hatsushimi, share with us:)

    Hello, Emme.

Working Hatsushima could be boring because it is a small, small island. In Matsushima island, there is no sandy beach. You can swim, yes, but the coast is rocky. If you are a scuba diver, you will enjoy diving. In Izu peninsula, you find good beaches; Atami has a small one, too.

I do not know where you work, but not all people sleep in a Japanese-style room in Japan. It is common to sleep in bed, too. If you stay in a dorm, a bed could be already equipped.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions.
