Echizen Crabs

One of my colleagues is from Fukui prefecture.  As was the case last year, his parents sent him Echizen crabs to share with the lab members.

I got two and took them home.

Echizen crabs are rather small but well known for their taste.

Katya was teaching English and arrived home later that I.

Although I had put them in the refrigerator, Katya instantly noticed the smell. Yes, the smell of the crabs was very strong.

We will have them tomorrow.

Looks good… having said that, I’m not quite a crab fan myself. Perhaps the experience of going out crabbing spoiled the interest. Still, I know how tasty Japanese crabs can be.

They were small but tasted good.
Crabbing? To catch crabs, you mean?
It would be a dream to catch crabs and cool there to taste.
