Work after the business trip, Students abroad

After the business trips, I always become busy because of the jobs not having been finished during the trip.

Today, therefore, I was busy again.

The student who is graduating with his master’s degree is now in Italy. The one who is getting his bachelor’s and who went to Kyoto together with me has left for Australia. These are the last trips before the graduation.

I hope they are having a good time.

Business trips are always a mixed blessing. Out of the office… out of the loop. Also, emails don’t stop once you’ve left the building. Having said that, I am a firm believer that we all need to get out of the office more often to gain a better appreciation of whatever it is that we each do. Perspective is always best from a distance.

    BTW – where in Australia?

I bring my laptop to check e-mails during my business trips; it reduces both the tasks back in the office and the freedom outside the office.

My student, with other seven students in the same lab, is staying in Sydney. He left his computer behind and does not respond to me. He knows how to travel.
