Abstracts for San Francisco and Columbo

Today is Monday. I had to check e-mails to answer to the requests. Besides, three of my students sent me abstracts for a conference in San Francisco scheduled at the end of October. I discussed with them and they finished writing. The submission deadline is Friday. I came back home and watched Columbo on TV.   Columbo is always nice to watch. I do not like CSI in which too many murders happen to show dead bodies.

Now is Bean time

After dinner, watching FRIENDS was a good idea.  But we watched it three times.  We watched Columbo twice, so something else must be found now. Katya was thinking of Brothers and Sisters, but she found the plot in Wikipedia and lost her interest in renting the DVDs. We chose Mr. Bean.  Actually, we saw it once, but twice is OK. Now we are finishing Bean, too.  What should we watch next?

rainy day, fish evening, Maya-san on the lap

It rained during the day time.   In the evening, the rain stopped.  It was very nice riding a bike back home. Katya prepared a fish dinner. After dinner, Katya drove us out.  Maya-san on my lap. She kept watching out for cats. We arrived at Tsutaya to rent Columbo. We are almost finishing the series.

Fetch Maya-san and Go home

We woke up at 8 AM and had a buffet breakfast. We went out for snorkeling again. It was a pity that the sea was not clear enough. Although, the picture looks better than those taken yesterday, probably because the flash light did not go this time, and the reflection inside the plastic bag eventually could be avoided. We returned back to the hotel and took an onsen. The water of the onsen is from the deep ocean and it tastes salty. Then we left the hotel. At a fish shop near the port, Katya bought big seashells alive for my parents for a souvenir.  Today is a national holiday, … Continue reading

dramas for us – continue

Temperature was up to 36 C, amazingly stable everyday. In spite of the heat, our veranda is full of roses.  I show you another photo. When Katya and I watch TV or videos, or go to see the movies together, there are some linguistic points not essential but preferable, as stated yesterday.  1) English comprehensible without strong accents or slang.  2) English subtitles welcome, even if the actors speak English. American TV dramas on DVD do fit the criteria.  We enjoyed watching “House” but stopped watching it because of the less attractive actors from Season 4.  “HEROS” soon got too complicated. “FRIENDS” is OK, and we are on our second … Continue reading

Slow Sunday

I could not sleep well last night and had a slight headache in the morning.  I decided to stay home today with Maya-san.  Katya went alone to Gotenba Premium Outlets.  It takes two hours from here by car, so it is a drive. While Katya was out, I rested, slept, and cooked Sri Lanka eggplant curry (I mix spices). After me and Maya-san came back from an evening walk, Katya was home.  Since the city tennis courts were closed, we had the curry and went out to rent “Up in the air” and two Columbos.  We saw “Up in the air“.  I liked Nathalie, the girl who invented the internet … Continue reading

Hole Digging in Kiyosato

On Sunday morning, Katya worked on translation, and I,  in the garden.  In the afternoon, we drove out and had a late lunch in “Kiyosato no Mori“, a park in the Kiyosato resort area.  It took an hour from our apartment.  We had salad and shared a plate of Okonomiyaki. We took Maya-san, too; she is an expert in hole-digging and never fails to make good, deep holes in the playing field of this park. We peeled her off the ground in spite of her disagreement, and moved to another park, “Oka no Koen“.  Katya and I played tennis, and Maya-san judged games.  After tennis, we took Onsen, a natural … Continue reading
