Last day in Hatsushima

We had breakfast in Oceano. I first went to the restaurant alone and finished mine, while Katya was taking care of Mariya in the room. Then, Katya took her turn and I was playing with Mariya.  Mariya has been a very good girl during the trip. We took a boat, Isle de Vacances III, from Hatsushima to Atami, leaving at 11:10 AM. From Atami, we drove to our apartment in Kofu. I left Katya and Mariya at our apartment, and drove alone to my parents’ in Shimosuwa taking the Chuo Freeway. At our parents, I saw Maya-san; she was happily came to kiss me as usual. Although she enjoys being with … Continue reading

Labor Thanksgiving Day in 2012 in Hatsushima island

Today is Labor Thanksgiving Day, a holiday. From Shimosuwa, without Maya-san who stayed with my parents, we drove to Atami. It has become the first long trip for Mariya. It rained on and off on the way. From Atami port, we took a boat, Isle de Vacance III. We sat in the special area in the very front of the boat.    The boat arrived at 4:30 PM to the island. It was already getting darker. A shuttle bus took us to a hotel, Grand XIV Hatsushima Club. The room was assigned on the sixth floor. From 6:30 PM, we had dinner at an Italian restaurant, Porto. Mariya was with us, … Continue reading

Back to Kofu, Sunday May 6, the last day of Golden Week

In the morning, I woke up alone  to take a hot spring spa. Katya and I had breakfast in “Oceano” on the first floor in XIV Hatsushima.    After breakfast, Katya went to the esthetic salon. I was watching TV, waiting for her to return. She was satisfied with the treatment. We had cakes at the hotel  lounge, checked out, and took a bus to the harbor. Katya bought souvenirs for my parents at a shop by the harbor. We then said good-by to Hatsushima on “Isle de vacances II”.    After arriving at Atami, we went to the parking lot, picked our Smart, and drove to Shimosuwa. We only stopped … Continue reading

Shimosuwa to Hatsushima on Greenery Day、May 4, 2012

Katya and I left Shimosuwa to Hatsushima at 8:30 AM, leaving Maya-san with my parents. The weather was pleasant, and we enjoyed driving. However, it did not last forever. We were caught in a traffic jam. The jam lasted for several tens of minutes. To save time, we bought light lunch at 7-Eleven.  We hurried to Atami Harbor. The boat leaves for Hatsushima Harbor at 2:10 PM. We barely made it a couple of minutes before the departure. In Hatsushima Island, we always stay in Grand XIV Hatsushima Club Hotel. Our room was assigned on the 7th floor up the entrance of the hotel. Before dinner starting at 8 … Continue reading

Katya and Natalia returned from Hatsushima

Katya and Natalia arrived home before 6 PM. They were waiting for me. They seemed to be tired after two journeys, from Saipan and Atami/Hatsushima. I cooked tuna steaks for dinner. Katya had bought rice crackers as a souvenir in XIV Hatsushima. On the way back home, they dropped by Gotenba Premium Outlet.  They bought croissants at Fauchon for me. Boy, they were real, real French croissants! The flour must be imported. It is the most genuine croissant I have ever eaten in Japan. Everybody was tired, and we went to sleep.

Lecture in Osaka on Sunday – Katya and Natalia left for Atami

Yesterday, I went to Chiba for a talk. Today, on Sunday, I was asked to give a lecture in Osaka University. I left the apartment at 6 AM.  I took trains. In the bullet train, a wall socket and the internet access were provided, so I was able to work. In the monorail in Osaka, I took the seat at the very front of the car. I felt a bit scared; it was like a roller coaster. I arrived at Osaka University. I talked for an hour and a half at the seminar. After my lecture, I quickly went back to Osaka station. I took brochettes and a glass of … Continue reading

Smart’s lamps changed

On the way to Shimosuwa, we noticed that one of the small lamps of Smart was dead. Since there were three more lamps (one small, two larger) to light the road, we kept the drive to Atami. This afternoon, I went to Yanase Kofu with Smart to have the lamps changed.  Although SmartForFour is not sold any more, luckily they kept the lamps. It cost 2,910 yen for two bulbs, cheaper than I expected. Katya is having fun with her iPad. On the internet, she ordered a red leather cover for it.

Returning Home

After breakfast, Katya and I went up the roof of the hotel.    Then, Katya took a quick facial massage, while I was taking a rest in the room. Katya came back and told me that the technician, Maruyama-san, was very skillful as well as charming.  She did like her and asked me to mention her name in the questionnaire; so I did. We packed up, took a shuttle bus, and arrived at the harbor. Before taking a boat back to Atami, katya bought dried fish as a souvenir for my parents. We stayed inside.    Katya drove all day today. She drove up the Hakone mountain. And drove down. … Continue reading

Autumn Equinox Day on Hatsushima Island

We stayed one night at my parents’ in Shimosuwa. Today is Autumn Equinox Day, a national holiday. We had breakfast at my parents’. Maya-san stayed in Shimosuwa, and Katya and I drove to Atami.  It was a bit cloudy. On the way from Tokyo to Yamanashi, on the opposite way from ours, there was a traffic jam.  People in Tokyo have difficulties driving out. As was last time, we had sushi lunch at Nigiri no Tokube in Gotemba.    We then drove to Atami to leave the car.    Leaves of a palm tree were faded: fall has come. We took a boat to Hatsushima Island.    We arrived at Grand … Continue reading

From Hatsushima to Atami to Shimosuwa to Kofu

Today was Marine Day, a national holiday. We left XIV Hatsushima Hotel at 10:30 AM. At the harbor, we wanted to buy living turban shells for my parents to cook, but the shop for shells and shrimp was closed because of the marine festival on the island being prepared from the morning. The long flags on the island showed that there would be held a festival. At the pier, we waited for a boat to come from Atami. Yes, there were many people on board. They would not stay overnight on Hatsushima, but go back to Atami in the evening after seeing the festival. We took the boat and left … Continue reading
