Business trip to Kobe University, Kobe

Yesterday, I went on a one-day business trip to Osaka. In the morning, I took Maya-san out for a walk, and went to Kofu station; I was going to Kobe today as I was asked to give a 20-minute talk in Kobe University tomorrow morning. This time, I took a plane using JAL miles. I charged two computers that I brought with me in a lounge in Haneda Airport. On the plane, the seat was by the left wing. It was full inside.    The flight lasted for 45 min. A cup of coffee was served. A monorail stopped in front of the conference hall of Kobe University at 2 … Continue reading

Business trip to Tokyo after meeting a Chinese student from France

At home, during the lunch break, I was preparing  for the tomorrow’s lecture in  Tokyo. Katya left home for work while I was preparing. Maya-san got bored to be left and tried to sleep on my suit in the baggage. I forced her out, packed everything properly, and left home for the office. Maya-san must have got bored more. C’est la vie, Maya-san. In the evening, with the baggage, I left the office for Kofu Station, where I met a Chinese student from France for a two-month research in our institute. He seemed to be smart. I took him to the hotel and we had dinner together. Then I left Kofu … Continue reading

Business trip to Hamamatsu

After staying overnight in the office, I came back home at 7 AM and slept for 20 minutes. Then I left home to my office. Today, I was going to go to Hamamatsu for a conference, so I kept working hard. I came back home from the office at 7 PM. After I had dinner, I packed my suitcase. Katya took me to Kofu station. The train left Kofu for Hachioji, Shin-Yokohama, and Hamamatsu. In the bullet train from Shin-Yokohama Station, cars were full and I was not able to find a seat, so I kept standing  for 30 min. From Shizuoka Station, I was sitting down and went to sleep. … Continue reading

Business Trip to Tokyo Big Sight

I came back home at 7 AM. I took Maya-san out for a walk and went to sleep. Katya left home for her classes while I am in futon. I woke up at 9 AM, took trains, and went to Tokyo Big Sight, a large convention center. An instrumental and scientific exhibition, nano tech 2012, was held there. Many domestic and international companies participated and presented their new instruments. Very interesting! The Russian company I had found in another exhibition had a booth, too. I talked with a salesperson, who said that the business is going well in Japan. After leaving the exhibition site, I took trains to Akihabara to … Continue reading

Tokyo Tower

I went to Tokyo on a business trip to attend two real estate meetings. Between the meetings, I went to see my apartment in Shiba Koen.  The apartment was well maintained inside and outside. From the 15th floor, Cornes‘ building is seen across the street. They sell expensive cars like Ferrarris. Tokyo Tower is in a walking distance from the apartment. I walked there to see it. A well-known view from the precincts of Jozoji Temple. At the foot of Tokyo Tower. I took an elevator to climb up to the first stage located at 150 m from the ground.    A small shrine exists on the floor. I then went … Continue reading

Future business trips and evening tennis

It was decided that on June 20 and 21, I will go to Kyoto on a business trip. From September 5 to 10, I will go to Poitiers, France, in order to take two students to the university there.  They will carry out experiments and will come back on June 30th. On September 9, I hope to stay in Paris for half a day, but it could be difficult. Poitiers is a beautiful place, but I prefer Paris.  I love simply sitting on a street in front of a cafe and  reading a news paper normally International Herald Tribune. This evening, we joined the tennis class.  Katya was working late … Continue reading

In the morning, I woke up at 6 AM; it is my business trip today. I sneaked out the apartment to my office, checked e-mails, packed a computer, and left Kofu. From Kyoto, I took two local trains to Nishioji Oike.  I arrived at Shimadzu, one of the largest companies for scientific analysis. I discussed about my new project with two researchers there.  We had an enjoyable discussion. I had reserved Kyoto Kokusai Hotel in front of Nijo Castle. … Continue reading

Business trip to NEC in Tsukuba

I went to Tsukuba on  a business trip. We stopped at Kenkyu Gakuen Toshi Station to visit the Nanoelectronic Laboratory of NEC. A researcher in NEC and I used to work in the same laboratory in University of Illinois, although not at the same time.  We got to know each other by the introduction of the professor of the lab and have known each other for five years.  Besides, an ex-student of mine is working with him. We talked about our new research collaboration possibly starting next April.  It will be fun. It was a short one-day trip. After coming back home, I found a cactus, Katya bought. Candle is … Continue reading
