Two lectures today; one of them finished
Today is Tuesday, when I have two lectures to teach. The first one is for graduate students starting at 9 AM. This class is shared by three professors including me. I finished my last 7th tern, so I will not teach this class from next week. In the afternoon, I am instructing undergraduate students in practical electronics. This class is not exciting, but students are steadily learning. Anyway, Tuesdays will be easier.

Summer has come
I had two classes today. During the lectures, I used the air conditioners to cool down for the first time in this year. Mariya wore a short‐sleeved shirt.
After holidays
Today’s Tuesday. School started. I have two classes on Tuesday, so I did not go back for lunch. When I was back home in the evening, Mariya was playing with Anpanman my parents gave her. He is made so as to right himself when knocked over, but Mariya does not play with him this way yet. These days, Mariya is interested in Maya-san, too.
Another Monday
I received an e-mail from a person in the governmental office in charge of my project, telling me that they had received my answer sheet. It will be passed to the judges on the 27th. Another e-mail arrived from a friend of mine in France with a paper attached; a Chinese student of his lab did the job in our institute while he was here and wrote the paper. I will check it soon. In the afternoon, I taught a class. Another e-mails and another jobs not accomplished last week. Typical Monday.

Monday in Summer Vacation
It is Monday today. There is no meeting at all; I checked e-mails, wrote syllabi for the lectures, and sent on the web the scores of the students taking my classes. I went to see a nose doctor, and had my hair cut at a barber’s. In the evening, Katya and I talked on skype. Katya said that her parents gave many souvenirs to Japan. She will be coming back to Japan tomorrow from Vladivostok.

Summer vacation coming after the exams
In the morning class starting at 9 AM, I gave students the final exam of the lectures before the summer vacation. Actually, I had shown all the questions two weeks before, and the questions I gave today were exactly the same. Besides, I let students bring any material, such as notebooks, textbooks, notes, and even PCs! One out of four students failed. How could it be? I gave those unsuccessful students some more chances to recover their grades. In the afternoon class starting at 1 PM, I have been teaching the basic of electronic circuits to freshmen . Today, they presented what they had learned in front of the teachers. One student … Continue reading

Evening Tennis
It was a hot day, too. The highest temperature was (only) 33 degree C, but I felt it as hot as yesterday, especially after I rode a bicycle back home for lunch. Katya was surprised to see how my shirt got wet after a 10-min ride. Katya hates heat in Japan. She is so looking forward to her return back to Vladivostok at the end of this month. In the evening, I joined a tennis class held in Midorigaoka Sports Park. It was hot, but it was very nice moving my body after desk works. After returning home by mini, Katya was surprised again to see my soaked T-shirt because … Continue reading

Rainy day, no tennis lesson, Wimbledon
I was about to go to a tennis class at 7 PM, when it suddenly started raining. The lesson was cancelled. Instead, I am watching a Wimbledon game on TV. Đoković is playing now. Sharapova will be playing after him, but I will not be able to see her play in midnight.
Chinese student works with me
Two lectures on Tuesday as usual. When I was about to leave after the first class, a Malaysian girl student came to ask a question of me. After the explanation, I asked her how much she understands my lecture. “30%”. Gee, I was disappointed! Of course, I expected a little more than that. I hope it should not be because of my English, or, should I wish so? Anyway, I have some more chances of recovery. After the lab tour in the afternoon, the Chinese student liked my research. So he will work with me during his stay. I hope he will enjoy this opportunity more than 30%.

Teaching in English
I have two classes to teach on Tuesday. The first lecture starting from 9 AM is for graduate students, fifty in number. There are a few students from Asian countries, like China, Malaysia, and Vietnam. One student is from Nepal, who entered the university this April and does not understand Japanese at all. Therefore, this year, I am teaching the class in Japanese and English. I prepared documents both in Japanese and English. I normally write on a board in English, adding some Japanese technical terms. I speak 80% in Japanese and 20% in English. Quizzes in English. I did not know whether this plan would work, but so far … Continue reading
