Business trip to Panasonic, Osaka
I had a discussion at Panasonic in Osaka today. Before taking a train, I bought breakfast at Vie de France at Kofu station. Breads sold in Vie de France are not exactly French but close enough for the prices. I took them into the train. The train left the station at 8 AM. I needed to change trains so many times. At Shin-Yokohama station, I took a bullet train to Shin-Osaka station. At Yodoyabashi station, I took a quick lunch. Changing trains, I finally arrived at Panasonic at 2 PM. We had a two-hour discussion. Then I took all the trains back to Kofu. I arrived home at 10 … Continue reading

Autumnal Equinox Day, 2012
It is Autumnal Equinox Day today. Katya and I went to Red Lobster for a late lunch. After the lunch, Katya and I went to “Fishland Ishihara” to learn how to decorate a sea-water fish tank. Then Katya, Maya-san, and I went for a walk together.

Shisendo in Kyoto
In the morning, we had a discussion in Shimadzu; the work’s then over. After arriving at Kyoto station from Keihanna, I took a bus to Shisendo, a residence of a scholar in the 17th century. I like the place and have been visiting it once in a while. It is a small place with few visitors. The garden is very small but beautiful. It is very comfortable to be in there. I stayed there for half an hour, sitting on the tatami floor. Then I took a bus back to Kyoto station. From Kyoto, I took a bullet train and got off at Nagoya station. In a small … Continue reading

One-day business trip to Osaka
The train left Kofu at 8:43 AM. I went to Panasonic in Osaka for a discussion about my instruments. I arrive there at 2 PM. Three of my students took a bus for seven hours from Kofu to Osaka yesterday. They said taking a bus eventually costs less even staying in a hotel. The discussion ended at 4.30 PM. I took octopus balls at the station near the Panasonic building. The bullet train left Shin-Osaka station at 5:40 PM. I changed trains to Kofu. I arrived home at 10:30 PM. I was on a train most of my time today.

Camera Malfunctioning
It was rainy today. I taught two classes as usual. The second class ended at 2:30 PM. I took all the materials out and quickly went out to a Chinese restaurant, Manpuku Roh, which closes at 3 PM. After the quick lunch, I had a discussion with students from 3:30 to 4:10 PM. Then, there was an administration meeting from 4:30 to 5 PM. I checked e-mails and continued my jobs. Katya picked me up at 8 PM at the institute. In the rain, we headed for a sushi restaurant, Nigiri no Tokube; there was a 19% discount coupon left unused. I tried to take pictures as usual in the restaurant, … Continue reading

Classes on Tuesday
There are about 50 students taking my first lecture on Tuesday. The lecture room was too small and it was changed to a new one. Unfortunately, the lamp of the projector was dead, and everybody had to move back to the old lecture room. The first class started after 9 AM and ended at 10:30 AM. Then, there was a scientific meeting from 10:40 AM to 12:30 PM. The afternoon class was held from 1 PM to 2:30 PM. It is a class for electronic practice, so I do not teach continuously; instead, I have to prepare all the materials. I had half-an-hour discussion with my students from 3 PM. … Continue reading

Two business meetings in Tokyo
I left my apartment at 4 AM for my office in the institute. I checked my e-mails, finished working with some documents, and went to Kofu station by bike for two meetings scheduled to be held in Tokyo. Since Marunouchi line in Tokyo was not running till 9 AM, because of an electricity break down, I arrived at the first place in Shinjuku 20 minutes late. There, I carried out some experiments using the Russian instrument I am interested in. I explained the information I needed to Russian and Japanese operators of the instrument. Then they started the experiments. I was there with them and left the building at 2 AM. … Continue reading

Graduating students’ presentations
From 9:10 AM, the presentations of the graduating bachelors started. They talked for seven minutes with two-minute Q&As. The student I am instructing made a presentation from 1:30 PM. He did well. I expect him to receive a presentation prize tomorrow. The presentations continued till 5:30 PM. The rest of the students will talk tomorrow morning. From 6 PM, the professors in our institute gathered and had a long discussion until 8 PM. In a university in Japan, a researcher did a dishonest research behaviors, which became a news. In order not to have the same problem, we checked our research systems.

Denmark Cacti
It snowed in the morning. It was the first snow this season in Kofu. A contrast between the snow and the colored leaves was beautiful. I should have taken the picture. In the afternoon, we had a lecture by a researcher from the US. We had some time for discussion, too. I was invited to a dinner with him, but I did not take the chance thinking that restaurant dinners three times in a role would be too much. It is cold outside. After the dinner at home, Katya took Denmark cacti inside. I like the pale one on the left. Denmark cactus is also called Christmas cactus. Yes, … Continue reading

Katya and Natalia went to Tokyo in the morning. I came home for lunch and took Maya-san out for a walk. Then I went to Tokyo, too, but for a discussion with two company researchers for the new project. Yes, the project has started. Actually, it started on October 1, but I was at the conference in Boston. The discussion started at 3 PM and ended at 5 PM. We decided to have another meeting on October 27. It will be busy three years. I came back home at 8:30 PM. Katya and Natalia talked me about their fun in Tokyo. Tomorrow, they will leave for Saipan.
