Mariya’s birthday party

Mariya’s birthday was October 15, but today, Saturday, I invited my parents to have a birthday party with them . I saw my parents at Kofu station at 1 PM and took them to our apartment. I quickly went to a Chinese restaurant, Manpuku Roh, to take out dinner.   The taste was OK.   Then all of us went out for Takeda Shrine. A cameraman was waiting for us to take pictures of us in a small park nearby. After taking photos, I took my parents back to Kofu station. My mother will come to visit us for helping us with moving out from the apartment after my visit to … Continue reading

Tomi no Oka on Sunday

It is Sunday today. There is a Suntory Winery, “Tomi no Oka” on the hill of Kai City next to Kofu. Katya and I went there for lunch with Mariya. We passed by the winery to the restaurant. There were not so many cars. We walked to the restaurant.    At the restaurant, “Wine Terrace“, we took seats outside. Katya and Mariya sat in the shadow under a tree. From the tree, a snake of a meter and a half dropped down by them! The snake was let go, and Katya changed the seat. Katya had fish and I had beef.    Eating out under a blue sky was pleasant. … Continue reading

May 6, 2013: Holiday in lieu

Yesterday, it was Sunday and Children’s Day; therefore, today is a holiday in lieu. While Katya did chores around the house in the morning, I took Mariya to Takeda Shrine. It is only a fifteen-minute walk from our apartment. We walked up Takeda Street. We passed across the bridge over the moat around the shrine. We went up the stone steps to pass the outer entrance. A pair of stone dogs guard the shrine at the entrance.    We proceeded to the inner entrance. On the left was a well for purifying hands (you can drink water, too). We arrived at the inner gate to the front shrine. People were praying. … Continue reading

Walking together on Sunday

In the afternoon, Katya, Mariya, Maya-san and I went out for a walk around Takeda Shrine.  It was a beautiful day like yesterday. Katya then left with Maya-san home for chores, while Mariya and I kept walking. I looked into her face during the walk, and she was happy for some while. However, Mariya started looking for her mother and became gloomy, so we headed for home together. For dinner, I went to Manpuku Roh to take out fried egg plants and stir-fried shrimp both with chili sauces. They cooked quickly; I only waited for 20 min.  I like Chinese dishes for their convenience, not to mention the tastes. Katya and I … Continue reading

Developing an instrument

Three researchers from Shimadzu came to my lab this morning. They had sent all parts in advance, which arrived at the institute at 10 AM. Then the researchers started to build up the parts to make a new instrument we are developing. The development of this instrument is the aim of our governmental project. At noon, the three researchers, two students and I went to Manpuku Roh for lunch. In the afternoon, they kept building the instrument, and I came back to my office. A sophomore student was waiting for me. He was to present his electronic circuit in front of the teachers for the exam, but he had yet … Continue reading

Manpuku Roh Dinner

On Saturday evening, Katya and I walked to Manpuku Roh, a Chinese restaurant: Katya from home and me from the office. We met in front of the restaurant. Inside was full of customers. I wish it were Dohshinboh, our favorite restaurant.    Manpuku Roh is close to ours and the price is reasonable. Dohshinboh is far, but there are more variety of foods, the quality is better, and the price lower. On the way back home together, we bought some ice candy bars. Each had one at home.

Camera Malfunctioning

It was rainy today. I taught two classes  as usual. The second class ended at 2:30 PM. I took all the materials out and quickly went out to a Chinese restaurant, Manpuku Roh, which closes at 3 PM. After the quick lunch, I had a discussion with students from 3:30 to 4:10 PM. Then, there was an administration meeting from 4:30 to  5 PM. I checked e-mails and continued my jobs. Katya picked me up at 8 PM at the institute. In the rain, we headed for a sushi restaurant, Nigiri no Tokube; there was a 19% discount coupon left unused. I tried to take pictures as usual in the restaurant, … Continue reading
