I woke up at 5 AM and went to my office to prepare the slides of my presentation today for a project meeting scheduled this afternoon in Tokyo with most of the collaborating researchers of several schools and companies. I am the leader, so I have to talk nicely. I finished the slides at 7:30 AM, and made 30 prints. I went back to my apartment, took a shower, shaved myself, and put skin cream and cologne, which is unusual (shaving, especially), to fire up myself. I am supposed to finish a document of my project on the 30th. The meeting of it waits for me on the 31st in Tokyo. Therefore, after the break in Nagano last weekend, I restarted working at the desk in front of my computer. It was a hot day. I sweat when I came back home for lunch by bike. Then I started working.
I left Kofu at 12:12 PM for a real estate meeting held in Shinjuku, Tokyo. It was a hot day even at the end of August. The meeting ended at 3:30 PM. I took a train to Shimosuwa leaving at 4 PM. Katya. on the other hand, left Kofu with Maya-san by Smart to Shimosuwa. We met at my parents’ at 7 PM. Then, all of us headed for their second house. Katya left the house for her Russian friend’s. Maya-san is waiting for her.
In the morning, I joined a meeting for the preparation of the specification of a new instrument. At 11 AM, I left the institute for Tokyo. At 2 PM, I arrived at Hongo, where I attended a publication meeting of a scientific society. We discussed till 4:30 PM. Then I had dipping doodles for late lunch at “Tsukemen Masaki“. The taste was delicate but not impressive. I moved to Honancho for an extraordinary real-estate meeting to introduce a new “electronic” electric breaker to reduce the electricity cost. It is Monday today. There is no meeting at all; I checked e-mails, wrote syllabi for the lectures, and sent on the web the scores of the students taking my classes. I went to see a nose doctor, and had my hair cut at a barber’s. In the evening, Katya and I talked on skype. Katya said that her parents gave many souvenirs to Japan. She will be coming back to Japan tomorrow from Vladivostok.
Today is the first day of the international workshop, which I was preparing for. In the morning, I woke up early to take a long walk with Maya-san. Then I drove to Kofu Fujiya Hotel, where the workshop was held. I was chairing the meeting. There were 200 participants. During the lunch time, I came back to say hello to Maya-san. We had a coffee break, too. Seven invited lectures were given. Banquet started at 6 PM. Japanese traditional guitars were played. I left soon for Maya-san’s dinner and walk.
Katya is in Vladivostok. I took Maya-san out for a walk in the morning before going to school. There was a small international meeting starting at 10 AM. Six lectures were given. I saw two German professors after a year, both of whom are invited. During the lunch time, I quickly went back home to say hello to Maya-san. The meeting ended at 4 PM. At 5 PM, I went back home for Maya-san’s walk. After the walk, she asked for a shower again. At 8 PM, I finished my job. Today, I was able to talk with Katya on skype. It is Saturday today. In the morning, there were presentations by eleven students of the first year of graduate courses. The meeting continued till noon. Two of my students talked, and they did well. Right after the presentations, I went to Kofu Station to take trains for Honancho, Suginami, Tokyo, where was held an annual meeting of the owners of the apartment in Nakaochiai; I am representative of the owners association. In advance of the meeting, the managing company and I had discussed the topics of the meeting and sent the proxy statement to the owners. I took “Azusa” express train to Tamachi, Tokyo; I am a member of the journal committee of a scientific society. The meeting was held in Tamachi Campus of Tokyo Institute of Technology. We talked about the schedules of the journal and future plans. The meeting ended at 5 PM. Then I moved to Okubo to meet people in an apartment managing company; the managing company of an apartment in Myorenji does not seem to be working properly. It was rainy today. I taught two classes as usual. The second class ended at 2:30 PM. I took all the materials out and quickly went out to a Chinese restaurant, Manpuku Roh, which closes at 3 PM. After the quick lunch, I had a discussion with students from 3:30 to 4:10 PM. Then, there was an administration meeting from 4:30 to 5 PM. I checked e-mails and continued my jobs.
