Preparing for the meeting on Friday
For my scientific project, I am holding general meetings three times a year. The next meeting will be scheduled on this Friday in my institute; I started preparing for this. I checked the attendees. There will be nearly 30 people. Four officials are coming from a government organization. To all of them, I have sent the schedules. I have also sent the report I prepared last week. I planned the arrangement of the room, and I rechecked the party after the meeting. I hope that everything goes well on Friday.

Meeting at Tokyo University of Science at Kagurazaka
I went to Tokyo University of Science at Kagurazaka for two meetings, an awards ceremony, a lecture, and a party of a scientific society I am joining. I went up to the 17th floor. I am an official of the society. I had recommended a professor for the society prize, which he received. So I went to see him awarded and giving a lecture. After his lecture, there was a small party. I congratulated him on his award. He was happy. After coming back to Kofu, I saw booths of wineries in front of the station. Many people were enjoying wines and foods. Tasting would have been fun if I … Continue reading

Welcome party at Monojiya
There was a welcome party of a research group in the institute. I went into a narrow side street, “Chochin Yokocho” near Kofu Station. I walked up into a building. Looks weird. We had the party at Monojiya. They made the inside old and cheap as in the 60s. The party started at 7 PM. I sneaked out at 8 PM to see Katya and Mariya.

Business trip to Kobe University, Kobe
Yesterday, I went on a one-day business trip to Osaka. In the morning, I took Maya-san out for a walk, and went to Kofu station; I was going to Kobe today as I was asked to give a 20-minute talk in Kobe University tomorrow morning. This time, I took a plane using JAL miles. I charged two computers that I brought with me in a lounge in Haneda Airport. On the plane, the seat was by the left wing. It was full inside. The flight lasted for 45 min. A cup of coffee was served. A monorail stopped in front of the conference hall of Kobe University at 2 … Continue reading

New Russian Instrument and Jingisukan BBQ Party
Technicians have been working on the installation of a new instrument for four days. It has finally been settled down. It is an instrument imported from Russia. I first knew the instrument in September 2010, and it finally arrived. The machine has a very unique function, and I hope it can be useful for our researches. In the evening, there was a Jingisukan BBQ party held by students in the garden of the institute. About 15 participants. It was a pity that the ex-student of mine, who sent us the meat, was busy and was not able to show himself. Anyway, we thankfully enjoy the meat.

Lost-and-found and French restaurant
During the lunch time, I went to a lost-and-found at Kofu station about the doughnuts I had left in the train last evening. The doughnuts are at the last stop of the train and will be delivered to us. I signed the document showing my ID, and left the station. In the afternoon, there was a party in a French restaurant, “Sadoya” for celebrating the the success of the workshop held early August It started at 6 PM and ended after 8 PM. Sadoya is a winery, too, and I drank much wine. After coming back home, Katya was a bit amazed by my being so drunk.

Project meeting held in Tokyo
I woke up at 5 AM and went to my office to prepare the slides of my presentation today for a project meeting scheduled this afternoon in Tokyo with most of the collaborating researchers of several schools and companies. I am the leader, so I have to talk nicely. I finished the slides at 7:30 AM, and made 30 prints. I went back to my apartment, took a shower, shaved myself, and put skin cream and cologne, which is unusual (shaving, especially), to fire up myself. Katya left home for her teaching job first, and I left next for the station. Maya-san kept the apartment. I took a train leaving … Continue reading

Buffet Lunch, Shosenkyo Walk, and Noah Vet Clinic on Sunday
For lunch, we decided to try a buffet in Kofu Fujiya Hotel. Katya and I, together and separately, had gone to have a Chinese buffet before, which was satisfactory. The Chinese buffet was ended, and the buffet changed into a mixture of Japanese, Chinese, and Western. The buffet was held at “Vent Vert“. We arrived at 11:50 AM. It was so crowded inside. We were directed to a private room. The room was assigned to us not because we are VIPs but there was no room left. The place was far from the buffet tables. The foods were not the first class but acceptable. However, the atmosphere was bad; … Continue reading

Curry party
In the morning, I brought a full pot of curry to the institute’s dining room by mini, and put it in the refrigerator. After my English lesson, I started a curry party in the dining room. I invited nine students, including the Chinese student from France, and one young researcher not yet married. I had asked students to buy some drinks and nan at New Mahal. The party started after 6:30 PM. It was a pleasant dinner with a lot of conversation. They seemed to enjoyed the curry. It is a pity I forgot to take pictures. Maybe I will make them chili in winter.

Welcome Party and Cooking Curry
There was a small party at the institute’s dining room. About 20 researchers got together to welcome three new comers. The party started at 6 PM. They were drinking and having fun. I asked Katya on the phone to come pick me up to Ogino, a super market; I invited my students to a curry dinner the day after tomorrow after my English lesson, and I wanted to buy the ingredients for curry. Katya arrived before 8 PM with Maya-san. We left the institute for Ogino. These are the ones I bought for chicken curry. The most difficult ones to find are spices, which I have already purchased on the … Continue reading
