Koraku-en Ramen Restaurant
For dinner, Katya and I went to Koraku-en, a ramen noodle restaurant. The restaurant is in a walking distance from our ex-apartment, but Katya and I had not been there together (I have been there for a couple of times, while Katya in Vladivostok). It is a standard ramen restaurant. Katya ordered dandan noodles, and I, vegetable ramen with small fried rice and dumplings. I took all rice and we shared dumplings. The tastes were good; not surprising but satisfactory. We took mango pudding and chocolate ice cream for dessert. It was a good dinner.

Lost-and-found and French restaurant
During the lunch time, I went to a lost-and-found at Kofu station about the doughnuts I had left in the train last evening. The doughnuts are at the last stop of the train and will be delivered to us. I signed the document showing my ID, and left the station. In the afternoon, there was a party in a French restaurant, “Sadoya” for celebrating the the success of the workshop held early August It started at 6 PM and ended after 8 PM. Sadoya is a winery, too, and I drank much wine. After coming back home, Katya was a bit amazed by my being so drunk.

Fiore walk and Yumura Hotel buffet
From the second house of my parents, we went to a flower park “FIORE KOBUCHISAWA” in Hokuto city. It was a good place for Maya-san to walk around. Then we went back home. In the evening, Katya and I had buffet at Yumura Hotel. There was a pianist playing in the restaurant. It was a cozy atmosphere inside. As usual, the dishes were simple but of fresh and good ingredients. We enjoy the dinner very much. Maya-san welcomed us at the apartment. We watched TV together.

Sun Meadows in summer and Busiest Tokube
After breakfast, we went to “Sun Meadows Kiyosato Ski Resort.” In summer, the slope is good for walking. There are two lifts taking us up, too. After the arrival, we first visited a small lake near by. Sometimes, people learn canoeing on the lake, but today there was nobody. Maya-san took a bath in to cool her down. We walked along the side way and went up the slope. Then we walked down and took a lift up again. Maya-san was with Katya on the lift. She was not afraid of the ride. Views of the city down from the hill and up the mountain. … Continue reading

Dinner with Chinese student
The Chinese student is leaving Japan on August 10. He will then go back to China for the summer vacation to see his parents. Today, I invited the Chinese student, the student who instructed him, and a research associate to a dinner. I chose Ohajiki, a chicken-specialized restaurant, because it is one of the best chicken restaurants in Kofu and that the student is a Chinese Muslim. It is decorated in an old Japanese style. Beans and Tofu appetizers. I ordered a bottler of Kofu wine, which was good. Then chickens continued. Very delicate tastes. Dessert was an icecream. We left the restaurant at 9:30 PM. … Continue reading

Buffet Lunch, Shosenkyo Walk, and Noah Vet Clinic on Sunday
For lunch, we decided to try a buffet in Kofu Fujiya Hotel. Katya and I, together and separately, had gone to have a Chinese buffet before, which was satisfactory. The Chinese buffet was ended, and the buffet changed into a mixture of Japanese, Chinese, and Western. The buffet was held at “Vent Vert“. We arrived at 11:50 AM. It was so crowded inside. We were directed to a private room. The room was assigned to us not because we are VIPs but there was no room left. The place was far from the buffet tables. The foods were not the first class but acceptable. However, the atmosphere was bad; … Continue reading

Bye-bye Doshinboh
It is Saturday. Katya and I went to Doshinboh, our favorite Chinese restaurant, for lunch. It looked the same outside, but the door was closed and nobody was there. I instantly imagined that the restaurant should have been bankrupt. We walked into a Indian restaurant, Taj Mahal, located by Doshinboh. We ordered a lunch set. Curry, nan, an drinks are served as much as you want. The price was reasonable, 850 yen each. They served spicy curry, too, so it was OK with me. Katya did not like curry because they was watery and nan either because it was more like bread. I asked an (Indian, possibly) waiter about … Continue reading

Sunday in Yatsugatake
In the afternoon, Katya, Maya-san, and I went to “Resort Outlets Yatsugatake“. We went to our favorite Italian restaurant, “Lo Scoiattolo” for lunch. The meals were good as usual. When I was trying to take pictures, I found out that the batteries were dead. Anyway, it was good lunch. I bought a pair of shoes and Katya two T-shirts. At St. Cousiers, we bought a bottle of wine, sausages, pasta sauce, salsa, and steak sauce. On the way back, we stopped by a vegetable shop, “Oishii Ichiba“, to buy a bottle of perilla juice, cherries, dried apples, and very rich puddings. We had light supper with some of those … Continue reading

Tokube visit on a typhoon night
Typhoon #4 hits Japan today. Kofu is in the mountainous area and the damages are normally not large. Even though, the rain was heavy and the wind strong. At 8 PM, Katya came to the office by car to pick me up to a sushi restaurant “Nigiri no Tokube” because today’s 19th of June, which is a Tokube Day. In the restaurant, there were some people enjoying sushi even during the storm. The menu was changed to that of a summer version. I was going to work early in the morning tomorrow, but is could still be a hard rain. So Katya took me back to the office … Continue reading

Nishizawa Valley, Taizan Hanten, Gusto
Young scientists visited our institute in the morning, and I showed them around. In the afternoon, Katya, Maya-san, and I went to Nishizawa Valley in Yamanashi city. The temperature in Kofu was higher than 30 degree C today, but in the mountain, it lowered to 24 degree. It was cool and pleasant. Maya-san found something “real” under the ground. She dug, barked, tried to bite it, and sometimes jumped back. It could be a snake. I took Maya-san out from the hole. We arrived at Okubo Waterfall. We then returned. On the way back home, we dropped by “JA (Japan Agriculture Co-operatives) Fruits Yamanashi”, a vegetable and fruit … Continue reading
