Submitting a report and making an instrument
Yesterday, after the seminar, I received a response from the governmental office telling me that they are not allowed to download files from free storage sites. It is reasonable, so I made the file separated into three and sent them by e-mail first. An officer said the report was fine, so I print it out, signed on it, and sent it by mail. A researcher came from Shimadzu. We worked on our instrument under development.

Working with Shimadzu and Panasonic
From yesterday, I have been working with Shimadzu and Panasonic researchers in my lab. Pretty tiring because I have little time to rest. Shimadzu researchers left this evening, but Panasonic researchers stay until tomorrow. Tomorrow, a professor from Keio University arrives to carry out another experiments. I was pretty exhausted when I arrived home. Katya made a lot of spaghetti, and I finished it all.

Presentation finished, successfully!
I stayed up all night in my office, preparing for the presentation in Tokyo scheduled today. 20-min presentation and 10-min Q&A is not long at all, but it should be counted far more seriously than the report I submitted the other day. At 7 AM, I went back home for a walk with Maya-san, while Katya was tired and sleeping with Mariya. Then I went back to the office. I made 25 copies of my PowerPoint presentation file, and left the institute at 11 AM for Kofu station. The presentation was scheduled at 3:40 PM, so leaving that early was not necessary, but I did not want to get to … Continue reading

Back in the lab
The student who got sick returned to the lab. We will work slowly. A researcher from Shimadzu arrived to work on the instrument of my scientific project. I cooked spaghetti for dinner. Mariya did not cry much during the night time, although Katya had to wake up, anyway.

Autumnal Equinox Day, 2012
It is Autumnal Equinox Day today. Katya and I went to Red Lobster for a late lunch. After the lunch, Katya and I went to “Fishland Ishihara” to learn how to decorate a sea-water fish tank. Then Katya, Maya-san, and I went for a walk together.

Shisendo in Kyoto
In the morning, we had a discussion in Shimadzu; the work’s then over. After arriving at Kyoto station from Keihanna, I took a bus to Shisendo, a residence of a scholar in the 17th century. I like the place and have been visiting it once in a while. It is a small place with few visitors. The garden is very small but beautiful. It is very comfortable to be in there. I stayed there for half an hour, sitting on the tatami floor. Then I took a bus back to Kyoto station. From Kyoto, I took a bullet train and got off at Nagoya station. In a small … Continue reading

Staying up late for an abstract
It is always busy after trips. At the institute, I found out that there is some modification needed in the instrument we are developing under the governmental project. So I decided to go to Shimadzu in Kyoto for two days with a student of mine. I need to finish an abstract for a presentation in November, so I will stay up late tonight to finish it.

Working all day
I left home at 7:30 Am, and started preparing for the document. A Shimadzu researcher came to help us with establishing the instrument in the lab. I came back home at 10 PM. I will work tomorrow for the document and the presentation slides.
