Report arrives, Toray Pan Pacific Open
I received an e-mail telling that the report had arrived at the office in Tokyo. Relieved. I sent an electric version by e-mail. I left the office at 8 PM as usual. Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament, was on TV, which is the largest ladies tennis tournament in Japan. Sharapova has already left the tournament, which is not a good news both for me and Katya.

Summer Evening BBQ
I was going to a tennis lesson today, but students asked me to join a BBQ, which I accepted. I took Maya-san for a walk at 5 PM, and the BBQ started at 7 PM in the garden of my office building. Students prepared everything. The foods and beer were very good.I went back home at 8:30 PM. “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” was on TV. I like Roald Dahl and Johnny Depp (and Tim Burton, so so), so it is one of my favorite movies. I tried to watch an Olympic soccer game Japan vs. Korea for the bronze, but I went to sleep.

Second Day of International Workshop
The workshop continued in Kofu Fujiya Hotel. In the morning, three lecturers talked. In the afternoon, a poster session was held on the hall way. Mostly, students presented their posters. There were two more talks, and the workshop ended at 5 PM. I went back home, took Maya-san for a walk, and went to a tennis lesson in Kose Sports Park.

Japan beats Spain
At midnight, I started watching an Olympic soccer game: Japan vs. Spain, prior to the opening ceremony. Japan is ranked #20 while Spain #1. I was not expecting anything. From a corner kick, Japan happened to get a goal. Moreover, Spain lost a player because of a serious foul. I thought I would keep watching until Japan loses a few goals. However, the Japanese players played well and they won! I was in fact more surprised than happy, and I soon went to sleep. In the morning, I watched TV news. I realized it was a big win for them. Then I went to school. It was a hot day … Continue reading

New printer arrives
In the evening, I went to Midorigaoka Sports Park to join the evening tennis lesson. I arrived early. Kids were taking a lesson. It was fun to watch them play. My lesson was not funny. It was hot and humid. The T-shirt I wore got so wet. It was a good exercise, though. After arriving home, I found a new printer arriving. An old Sony printer (Sony does not sell printers anymore) is broken and I ordered an HP3070A. The color printer is wireless with functions of a scanner and photocopier. It is a little big, but I think it helps us.

Rain again
Officially, the rainy season is over, but in the morning, it started raining. For lunch, I rode a bike to get all wet. It kept raining so I was not able to join the tennis lesson in the evening. Therefore, I came back home earlier than usual after work and made spaghetti for dinner with a sauce we bought at St. Cousair in Yatsugatake. It was good and spicy.

Evening Tennis
It was a hot day, too. The highest temperature was (only) 33 degree C, but I felt it as hot as yesterday, especially after I rode a bicycle back home for lunch. Katya was surprised to see how my shirt got wet after a 10-min ride. Katya hates heat in Japan. She is so looking forward to her return back to Vladivostok at the end of this month. In the evening, I joined a tennis class held in Midorigaoka Sports Park. It was hot, but it was very nice moving my body after desk works. After returning home by mini, Katya was surprised again to see my soaked T-shirt because … Continue reading

Curry done
I joined a tennis lesson this evening in Midorigaoka Sports Park. It rained once in a while, but we were somehow able to continue and finish the lesson. I came back home and started cooking curry again. I added tomato, chicken, some wine, spices, etc to the onion paste. It is almost done. I hope the quantity is OK for ten people tomorrow.

Rainy day, no tennis lesson, Wimbledon
I was about to go to a tennis class at 7 PM, when it suddenly started raining. The lesson was cancelled. Instead, I am watching a Wimbledon game on TV. Đoković is playing now. Sharapova will be playing after him, but I will not be able to see her play in midnight.
Saving energy this summer
It was raining in the early morning, but it stopped. In the evening, I was able to play tennis in Kose Sports Park. There were two men and three women in the class. Being in the rainy season, the air was very humid. It is a cool summer so far. We have not used an air conditioner yet. When it gets a bit warm, we use electric fans. Katya bought bottles of air-conditioner cleaners. The cleaner will not only clean the air out, but will save the energy.
