Mariya’s birthday party
Mariya’s birthday was October 15, but today, Saturday, I invited my parents to have a birthday party with them . I saw my parents at Kofu station at 1 PM and took them to our apartment. I quickly went to a Chinese restaurant, Manpuku Roh, to take out dinner. The taste was OK. Then all of us went out for Takeda Shrine. A cameraman was waiting for us to take pictures of us in a small park nearby. After taking photos, I took my parents back to Kofu station. My mother will come to visit us for helping us with moving out from the apartment after my visit to … Continue reading

Tiring Sunday by cleaning up around the apartments
I normally wake up late on Sunday mornings, but today, before 7 AM as usual, because there was scheduled a clean-up around the apartments by the residents themselves; there are a lot of these occasions in Japan. The cleaning started at 8 AM. We cleaned the ditch and took off weeds. We made up piles of bags filled with weeds. I took a shower again. For lunch, we walked down Takeda Street. We arrived at a Nepali restaurant, “New Mahal“, where Katya took a ladies’ set and I a lunch buffet. Mariya was a good girl as usual. I wish that the buffet curries were more spicy. After coming … Continue reading

Seminar and meeting in Tokyo
I continued copying and pasting. At 2 AM, a mail arrived from a Mexican friend working for a French university; he invited me to the defense of his Chinese PhD student, and the date of defense was decided on September 18th. So I will visit France in September. I finished the report at 4 AM. I uploaded the file to a free storage site and sent the url to the governmental institute asking to download it to check. I came back home, took Maya-san for a morning walk, and left for Tokyo for a seminar of a graphic software I am using. I slept in the train. I got off … Continue reading

Resort Outlets Yatsugatake
All of us went to “Resort Outlet Yatsugatake“. It was cloudy today, and there were not so many people. Maya-san had some fun in the dog run. Then we had lunch at an Italian restaurant “Lo Scoiattolo“. Dishes were good as usual for the price. Mariya and Maya-san were waiting by us. I had a slight cold and my eye hurt because of a lens, so I stayed in the car with Maya-san while Katya was shopping with Mariya. It started raining. Katya drove us home. For dinner, I cooked Szechuan Sesame Hot Noodles. After dinner, I started cooking Chinese roast pork using a pressure cooker. The pork … Continue reading

Sunday shopping
In the afternoon, Katya, Mariya and I went out for shopping leaving Maya-san home. We dropped at a public parking lot to see roses around the fences. Then we went to an au shop, a telephone company to talk about my broken iPhone; there is no AppleStore in Kofu. I had called to Apple, and the operator told me that with the number he gave me, I was able to borrow an iPhone at any au shop. The man at the au shop told me that he knew nothing about this system and that he could not do anything for me. Nothing can I do, either. I have to call … Continue reading

Tomi no Oka on Sunday
It is Sunday today. There is a Suntory Winery, “Tomi no Oka” on the hill of Kai City next to Kofu. Katya and I went there for lunch with Mariya. We passed by the winery to the restaurant. There were not so many cars. We walked to the restaurant. At the restaurant, “Wine Terrace“, we took seats outside. Katya and Mariya sat in the shadow under a tree. From the tree, a snake of a meter and a half dropped down by them! The snake was let go, and Katya changed the seat. Katya had fish and I had beef. Eating out under a blue sky was pleasant. … Continue reading

Tokube with Mariya
Katya sent me an e-mail telling that Nishikori was beaten by Andujar in Madrid Open yesterday. In the evening, Katya, Mariya and I went to a Sushi restaurant, “Nigiri no Tokube” in Shikishima. It was rainy. Katya was holding Mariya in her arms in the restaurant. Mariya was mainly playing with a small soy-sauce saucer. We had many plates of sushi. Mariya had been a very good girl in the restaurant as usual.

Welcome party at Monojiya
There was a welcome party of a research group in the institute. I went into a narrow side street, “Chochin Yokocho” near Kofu Station. I walked up into a building. Looks weird. We had the party at Monojiya. They made the inside old and cheap as in the 60s. The party started at 7 PM. I sneaked out at 8 PM to see Katya and Mariya.

May 6, 2013: Holiday in lieu
Yesterday, it was Sunday and Children’s Day; therefore, today is a holiday in lieu. While Katya did chores around the house in the morning, I took Mariya to Takeda Shrine. It is only a fifteen-minute walk from our apartment. We walked up Takeda Street. We passed across the bridge over the moat around the shrine. We went up the stone steps to pass the outer entrance. A pair of stone dogs guard the shrine at the entrance. We proceeded to the inner entrance. On the left was a well for purifying hands (you can drink water, too). We arrived at the inner gate to the front shrine. People were praying. … Continue reading

Children’s Day, 2013
We had late breakfast at Starbucks. In the afternoon, we went out for a walk. For dinner, Katya bought hand-rolled sushi.
