beautiful morning and rainy evening

Beautiful autumn morning!  Maya-san went out to a veranda, and took a morning sunbath.

After breakfast, we decided to go to Kiyosato for Maya-san’s hole-digging.  Maya-san is an athlete, and she used to run a lot.  Now she is not allowed to run because of her weak hind legs, so hole-digging is her adequate exercise now, as far as we think; she uses only her front legs and her mouth.

Kiyosato was developed as a new resort area.  When the economy was good in Japan, many people visited.  Now it is sort of deserted, but I think the place still has a potential to be popular again.  It is rather close to Tokyo, and rich nature remains.

We went to “Kiyosato no Mori“.

Photos showing how she digs.

She started to dig a second hole after an hour.

Maya-san, it is enough!

We had two okonomiyakis at “Hickory Farms” for lunch.

We left Kiyosato early for home.  From 5 to 7 PM, we had made a reservation for tennis in a “Midorigaoka Sports Park“.  The light rain started just before we arrived at the tennis court.  We played in the rain.  The rain did not stop, so we quit before 6 PM.

After coming home, we took a bath with natural-hot-spring powder to make our bodies warm up.

After a light dinner, I constructed a framework of a bookshelf.  I will install shelves   tomorrow.  I think our future library, present storeroom, will look better.

Now that’s some impressive hole digging (can’t imagine what a backyard would look like with a dog that loves to dig that much. Nice to see Autumn finally arriving… is it still very hot/humid there now?

    Good morning, Ben.
We took her there because there are moles underground.
Katya told me that dachshunds have a strong instinct to dig holes for hunting. According to her policy, she did not repress her individuality, but rather encouraged it. Maya-san even barks at us when she is taken off from holes she is making (and that’s the only time she is aggressive against us).
It is very nice here. Not hot or humid. However, we are expecting typhoons, too.
How is it in your place in Australia?
