Walk, Concert, Buffet on Sunday
Today is Sunday. Katya and I took Maya-san to Lake Chiyoda. It was a warm day. Maya-san got into the lake and chased ducks. After a half-an-hour walk, we went back home. Katya and I drove to Togen Hall, where a concert was held by an amateur orchestra “South Alps Utopia Symphony Orchestra“. They performed Brahms, Prokofiev, and Beethoven. We listened to Symphony #5 of Beethoven for the first time in a concert hall. The members must have practiced hard. Katya and I did not have lunch. On the way back home after the concert, we dropped by “Stamina Taro“, a bufet restaurant. The quality was not high … Continue reading

Plans on Christmas and New Year’s Days
Katya and I are talking about holiday plans. On December 23, we will play tennis. On (Catholic) Christmas Eve, we will go to Sakuraza for a concert (tickets already reserved). On (Catholic) Christmas, we will stay calm. On New Year’s Eve, we will go to Karuizawa and stay at Mampei Hotel. We welcomed New Year in the bar last year, and this year, we will stay in the hotel. On New Year’s Day, we will stay in XIV Karuizawa as we did this year. We will exchange presents as Russians do. Then we will celebrate New Year at my parents’. Hopefully, we will be able to sky at Hakuba area. I will … Continue reading

Concert on Saturday Evening
In the afternoon, I worked in my office, and Katya took Maya-san to Lake Inagako. Katya and I went to the prefecture hall for an amateur classic concert. We were to go to the concert in April, but it was postponed because of the possible blackouts. We missed the first half of the concert and managed to listen to the symphony #7 of Beethoven. They did fine, if not perfect. For the last part of the concert, children’s chorus in Kofu joined. We had dinner at Denny’s and went back home. It was a good and simple Saturday evening.
Takeo Moriyama Quintet
I dropped by at my parking lot on the way to my office. On the right side of my mini, I found the mini that used to be on the left side of mine. The owner must have changed his mind to keep it at the same parking lot again. It was a small pleasure in the morning. In the evening, we took Smart for the jazz concert in “Sakura-za” theater , which we had planned to attend. We took a quick dinner of a salad and sandwiches at Papas Cafe at Okajima department store. In Okajima department store, a Christmas tree made of plastic bottles was displayed. It looked … Continue reading

Tetsuro Kawashima Quartet
In the afternoon, I took smart to YANASE Kofu for the 12th-month inspection. They let me use their car for one day during the inspection. This car is much too bigger than Smart, and I feel less comfortable. In the evening, Katya and I went to a Jazz concert of Tetsuro Kawashima Quartet held in the civic hall of Koku. Kawashima is a popular sax player. The concert was supported by Kofu city, thus the ticket cost only 1,000 yen each. We went to the concert last year, too. This year, the rest of all three members, pianist, drummer, and bass player, except Kawashima, have changed. The new members with Kawashima … Continue reading

Labor Thanksgiving Day
Today was a holiday. This holiday was originated in the harvest festival in Shintoism. After the WWII, the Allies are said to have created “Labor Day” + “Thanks Giving Day” = “Labor Thanksgiving Day” to eliminate the influence of Shintoism. So it has a complex history. Katya went to Tokyo for a walk. I stayed and took care of Maya-san. In the morning, Maya-san and I went to Noah Vet Clinic. It was so crowded. We stayed outside in fear that Maya-san could bark at, or even bite, cats. She kept looking inside for cats. She received a laser treatment as usual. We then went to a hall to buy … Continue reading

Busy Sunday
There is a hotel in the mountain. In the morning, we headed for the hotel, parked our Smart at the parking lot and went for a hiking with Maya-san. We came back home and urgently went to a tennis court to try the borrowed rackets again. Katya liked one of them. We came back again, took a quick shower, and went to a concert hall near Kofu. Our favorite local amateur orchestra played Symphony No. 5 of Tchaikovsky very well. We were fascinated! We came back again, took Maya-san, and headed for the sports shop. Katya bought a Babolat racket. It will be ready on Friday. We took Maya-san to … Continue reading
