New Russian Instrument and Jingisukan BBQ Party

Technicians have been working on the installation of a new instrument for four days. It has finally been settled down. It is an instrument imported from Russia. I first knew the instrument in September 2010, and it finally arrived. The machine has a very unique function, and I hope it can be useful for our researches. In the evening, there was a Jingisukan BBQ party held by students in the garden of the institute. About 15 participants. It was a pity that the ex-student of mine, who sent us the meat, was busy and was not able to show himself. Anyway, we thankfully enjoy the meat.

I changed trains and trains and finally took a bullet train from Omiya to Shinjo.    The train once stopped at Fukushima Station, when, I confess, I felt uneasy. I arrived at the Shinjo Station … Continue reading

Friend arrives from Kumamoto

It was a beautiful day. Dogwood was beautiful in the garden of the institute. Dogwoods were sent to Japan from Washington D.C. in1915 after the present of cherry trees from Tokyo in 1912. Dogwoods are now seen all over Japan. In Kofu, they are beautiful in this season of the year. In the evening an ex-colleague of mine came to Kofu from Kumamoto to celebrate the tomorrow’s wedding of my ex-student/present colleague. The ex-colleague from Kumamoto, the other ex-student/present colleague, and I had dinner together at Ohajiki, a well-known chicken restaurant in Kofu. The entrance is very small; you must bend yourself down to get in.    The chickens are of Yamanashi … Continue reading
