Busy. I checked e-mails. I finished a report on the forum in China, which will be published in a society journal. I was invited to a conference in Korea in August, but the abstract was not finished yet. And other things to be done.

Second day of the forum: my presentation day

While in Japan, I did not finish preparing my presentation, so I woke up at 3 AM to finish it. I had breakfast at 7 AM. The bus left at 8 AM for SiChuan University for the forum starting at 8:30 AM. I was the second to the last to talk, and waited for a while till my turn came. I showed 40 slides in 20 minutes to make people impressed. First day of the forum in SiChuan University

In the morning, I found that I was not able to use the university web-mail system of the university.  I tried to make an international call to the internet administration in my university, but had a hard time making an international call from my room because the hotel staffs hardly understood English. After an hour of struggling, I managed to call to the university office to ask about the internet connection.  They told me our mailing site might be blocked, and gave me  a different address. Business trip to Chengdu

In the morning, I attended meetings as usual. I left Kofu for Narita at 12:30 PM and arrived at the airport at 3:30 PM. The ANA plane directly flying  to Chengdu, China, was small and filled with travelers, mostly Chinese. A strong wind blew against the plane, and the body much trembled. It was not a pleasant flight, but the service was much better than that of JAL Cabin attendants were kind enough and helpful. The dinner was simple, standard, and acceptable. The professor managing a forum in China finally sent us the information on April 13 and 14, when the forum is be held. Seven Japanese and seven Chinese researchers will be meeting. China plans

I was asked to join a forum in Chengdu, China in April with six other Japanese researchers. Japanese and Chinese scientists will intensively discuss together in a hall for two days. Today, I reserved flights to/from China. I hope that it will be a good chance to get to know new people there.
