Abstracts for San Francisco and Columbo
Today is Monday. I had to check e-mails to answer to the requests. Besides, three of my students sent me abstracts for a conference in San Francisco scheduled at the end of October. I discussed with them and they finished writing. The submission deadline is Friday. I came back home and watched Columbo on TV. Columbo is always nice to watch. I do not like CSI in which too many murders happen to show dead bodies.

Submitting a paper
I arrived at my office at 1 AM, and I started working on the manuscript. First, I was trying to combine the manuscript and the figures in one document, and …. boy, why on earth does it happen? When I pasted a figure, for example, WORD started to create thousands of vacant pages until I undid the procedure. After I checked the manuscript, the content was changed, so unbelievable! I tried again and again to obtain broken manuscript each time. I scanned viruses to find nothing. Maybe the program or the computer is broken. I went back home, took a rest, and in the afternoon, I started retrying. I changed … Continue reading

Driving back to Kofu
The government asked me to prepare budget plan for the new project. The deadline was set September 26. We have very limited time. The reason we have only two weeks is because of the earthquake; the submission of the proposal was extended for one month, but the projects start on October 1 as usual. The sub leader of the project, a researcher working for a company, suggested me to meet at 2 PM in Kofu, which I agreed. I woke up at 6 AM this morning, but it was too early. I slept again and woke up at 8:30 AM! Too late for the departure. I took a shower, had … Continue reading

Maya-san on the lap
One day after the submission, I felt more relaxed, thinking I probably had submitted the right file. And somehow, I started to feel confident that the proposal is a good one with the corporation of many good researchers. In the morning, students and staffs joined a lab presentation by the Ph.D students. In the afternoon, I was working in my office. After dinner, Katya, Maya-san, and I went out for a walk. After the walk, Maya-san came on my lap and started licking my hand. It was generous of her. However, since I wanted to use the computer, I asked her to leave.

Proposal and article submitted
In the morning, I was nervously checking the proposal; today is the last day for submission. One minute before noon, the very dead line, I submitted the proposal online. I am still nervous whether I submitted the right file. What if I had sent the wrong one? Everything I did with the other members would be ruined. In the afternoon, I changed my mind and worked on the article for the book. I finished it, too. I sent it to the publisher at 7 PM. Katya came to the office to pick me up for the tennis lesson. Only four students participated today, so we had an intense lesson. Katya … Continue reading
