Jingisukan again on Typhoon Sunday
In the morning, Katya and I had breakfast at Jonathan’s. An extremely powerful typhoon, #17, is coming to Japan. It is the biggest one in years. In the afternoon, it started raining. At around 6 PM, the typhoon arrived in Toba, Mie prefecture, where we stayed in July. We had a Jingisukan BBQ again for dinner. Katya prepared a lot of vegetables this time. Last evening, Katya put four snails inside the sea-water fish tank. They look healthy. It is 9 PM, the wind got stronger.

Back from Toba on Monday, July 16, 2012
Today is Marine Day, a national holiday. I took a double espresso before a long drive, while Katya was busy packing. It was more than a double, which woke me up. Yes, it was a nice stay in Toba. Katya and I checked out the hotel at 10:30 AM. I drove and only stopped twice. We arrive at my parents’ at 3:50 PM. Maya-san was thrilled to see us! After we took a rest, Mom prepare a meal. We had it and left for Kofu with Maya-san. Katya drove this time. We arrived home at 6:30 PM. It was a long journey back home. We all are tired as well … Continue reading
Second day in Toba on Sunday, July 15, 2012
Katya and I had a buffet breakfast at “ARAGOSTA“. We sat by the window. We had a buffet because Katya wanted to have a big salad. However, I do not recommend this buffet because of a low quality. After breakfast, we walked to “Thermaison” for spa and esthétique. It is a big spa. The quality of water was very good. I felt my skin got smooth. Katya enjoyed esthétique treatments. Then we drove to Chidorigahama Beach, the biggest beach in Mie prefecture. I do not complain, but Katya did not like the tetrapod constructions in the sea to prevent waves. So we took off the beach. We drove up … Continue reading

First day in Toba on Saturday, July 14, 2012
After breakfast, we told Maya-san that she would not come with us but stay with my parents. Maya-san understood as usual, felt lonely as usual, and did not come to see us off as usual. Katya and I left Shimosuwa for Toba after 10 AM. Katya drove first. Japan is suffering from heavy rains these days, but fortunately, it did not rain on the way to Toba. We stopped by “Byoubuzan” Parking Area and I started driving after Katya. We next took a rest at “Oyamada” Parking Area. Near Yokkaichi, we were caught by a traffic jam for eight kilometers. Other than that, the traffic went smooth. We arrived at XIV … Continue reading

Going to Shimosuwa for the trip to Toba tomorrow
The researchers from Shimadzu have finished the work for this week. They left the lab at 4 PM. They will come again after two weeks. Katya picked me up at 7:20 PM by Smart. For dinner, she drove with me to a sushi restaurant, Tokube, which was full of people. After dinner, Katya and I came back home, packed the baggage, took Maya-san, and left for my parents’ in Shimosuwa. We will stay one day before going to Toba. Maya-san will be left. It is a pity but she will have some fun, too, with my parents.

No rain in the rainy season
There was (probably) no rain in Kofu (I am not 100% sure because I stay mainly inside). It was not sunny but humid and hot, so I used an air conditioner in my office. Katya and I are planning to visit Toba in Mie prefecture from July 14 to 16. I hope the weather is OK then. The weather forecast tells that it will be cloudy, but fortunately, with no rain. We are planning to go on the beach. If we cannot swim, we want to walk by.

Planning a trip to Toba, Mie
July 14 is Saturday, 15 Sunday, and 16 Marine Day, a national holiday. Katya and I have been planning what to do. Today, I reserved a room in a hotel for two nights in Toba, Mie. Neither of us has been there. It is on a sawtooth shaped coastline, famous for the scenery and fresh fish. There are some islands close by. We might be able to visit one of them.
